Crack growth initiation and subsequent resistance in a hexagonal honeycomb
made out Of ductile base material is investigated in a numerical study. The
elasto-plastic base material is characterized by its yield strain, failure
strain and the ratio of ultimate strength to yield strength, assuming a bi
linear stress-strain relationship. Of the base materials' fracture properti
es, only the specific fracture energy is prescribed. K-Resistance curves ar
e calculated under the assumption of small scale yielding.
