Abstract
Recently, the American College of Gastroenterology updated its guidelines f or the treatment and diagnosis of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). T hese guidelines are based on the most current clinical knowledge in this fi eld and include an; evaluation of diagnostic tools as well as therapeutic o ptions. The purpose of these guidelines is to propose methods of approach f or the treatment of patients with GERD. Physicians call review the guidelin es to help them select a course of treatment that meets the needs of the in dividual patient.
