Abstract
Charged particle activation with similar to 88 MeV O-16(7+) beam on natural terbium metal foil leads to the production of the short lived carrier-free radioisotopes Ta-170,Ta-171 and their corresponding daughter products Hf-1 70.171 and Lu-170,Lu-171 in the target matrix. Liquid-liquid extraction wit h HDEHP diluted in cyclohexane was carried out for the separation of Hf-170 .171 and Lu-170.171 from the bulk terbium in an aqueous HCl medium.
