Abstract
The role of stochastic resonance (SR) in the detection of signals is discus sed. It is shown that when a signal is not detectable using traditional met hods, such as spectral analysis or averaging, it cannot be detected using S R. In other words by adding noise a far-from detectable signal cannot becom e detectable. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
