Abstract
Two isomers of a cyanine dye alpha-cyclodextrin rotaxane have been synthesi sed in aqueous solution, and structurally characterised by 2D NMR spectrosc opy; they exhibit enhanced fluorescence and photostability, compared with t he free dye.
