Abstract
A nucleophilic imidazole carbene featuring acetylene substituents in the 4-
and 5-positions is prepared in three steps from dialkynyl diimines and is
characterised by low temperature NMR spectroscopy and trapping reactions wi
th MeI, CS2 and HgCl2.
