1,2-Bis(tetramethylcylclopentadienyl) tetramethyldisilane reacted sequentia
lly with n-BuLi and Mo(CO)(6) to generate 1, 1' - (tetramethyldisilandiyl)b
is[tetramethylcyclo-pentadienyltricarbonyl molybdenum anion salt], (Me2SiMe
2Si) [Me4CpMo(CO)(3)Li--(+)](I). The further reaction of I with acetic acid
, followed by halogenation with CCl4, NBS or I-2 respectively yielded the c
orresponding molybdenum-halogen derivatives, (Me2SiMe2Si) [Me4CpMo(CO)(3)X]
(2), [X = Cl(1), Br(2), I(3)]. The reaction of compound I with Mel yielded
the methylmolybdenum complex (Me2SiMe2Si) [Me4CpMo (CO)(3)Me](2) (4). Stran
gely, the reaction of I directly with I, gave the desilanyl product Me4CpMo
(CO)(3)I (5). The molecular structures of compound 1-5 were characterized b
y elemental analyses, IR and H-1 NMR spectra.
