Electrochemical synthesis of metal oxides and hydroxides

Emerging electrosynthetic techniques such as electrogeneration of base, ano dic oxidation, and ac (alternating current) synthesis provide simple and in expensive alternative routes to the synthesis of ceramic thin films and coa tings, nanoparticulate materials, and metastable phases. In this review, we survey illustrative examples to highlight the potential application of the se techniques in meeting the goals of inorganic solid-state synthesis.
