Abstract
Although the biochemistry of triglyceride synthesis has been studied for de cades, an understanding of the molecular processes involved has been lackin g. The recent cloning of a gene encoding acyl coenzyme A:diacylglycerol acy ltransferase, an enzyme that catalyses the final step in triglyceride synth esis, has opened this area to molecular investigation and has begun to prov ide new insights into triglyceride metabolism.
