Abstract
The nucleotide sequence of 303 bp was determined for the cytochrome ox idase subunit III [E.C. 1.9.3.1] (COIII) gene of mitochondrial DNA of 14, species of Baikalian endemial gammarids belonging to seven genera. The data obtained were used to construct phylogenetic trees, which pr oved to be in accord with modem systems for the group under study. App roximate estimates of the evolutionary age of some species were obtain ed.
