Abstract
A sensitive electrochemical assay method is described for secreted placenta l alkaline phosphatase (SPAP). The enzyme activity is measured using 2-naph thyl phosphate as the electrochemical substrate. The product of the reactio n, 2-naphthol, is detected using Osteryoung square wave voltammetry (OSWV) with good sensitivity and precision using in-house screen printed carbon el ectrode assembly. The assay format is adapted to develop a cell based assay for herpes simplex virus (HSV).
