Abstract
Liquid manure from industrial pig farming was mixed with waste ferrous sulp hate solution from titanium dioxide manufacture to give a GOD/SO4 ratio of 1. The mixture was inoculated with Desulfovibrio desulfuricans and fermenta tion under anoxic conditions was monitored for 14 days. The efficiency of s ulphate reduction in this process amounted to 99.3 %, degradation of organi c pollutants expressed as COD was 75.4 % and the whole iron content passed from the liquid to the solid state. The time profiles of variations in iron content in both the phases, GOD, SO(4,)pH and alkalinity were described by a function of the same class, which was a logistic function.
