The incidence of bladder cancer is rising. The main treatment for superfici
al bladder cancer is local resection and judicious use of intravesical agen
ts. Radical cystectomy can cure organ-confined, inversive disease. The ilea
l conduit remains the gold standard following cystectomy. Newer methods of
bladder substitution and nerve-sparing techniques have resulted in better t
olerance of this treatment.
