Pr. Watson et al., Salmonella enterica serovars typhimurium and Dublin can lyse macrophages by a mechanism distinct from apoptosis, INFEC IMMUN, 68(6), 2000, pp. 3744-3747
Salmonella enterica serovars Typhimurium and Dublin lysed primary bovine al
veolar macrophages and immortalized J774.2 macrophage-like cells in the abs
ence of either the morphological changes or DNA fragmentation characteristi
c of apoptosis. Macrophage lysis mas dependent on a subset of caspases and
an intact sipB gene.
