Abstract
Synthesis of the first light-emitting neutral rhenium-based molecular recta ngles has been accomplished. The rectangles possess large cavities having n o counterions inside the channels, and above all they are luminescent at ro om temperature with considerable quantum yield and lifetimes in the range o f nanoseconds.
