Abstract
Tert-butyl esters 3 and 8-cyanopyrrolidines 6 are prepared by phase-transfe r-catalysed reactions of sym metrical 4,4'-disubstituted N-(benzylidene)ben zylamines with tert-butyl cinnamate and alpha-phenylcinnamonitrile, respect ively; similar reactions of mono-substitited N-(benzylidene)benzylamines af forded mixtures of compounds 3, respectively 6, and their regioisomers 3(A) and 6(A).
