R. Djellouli et al., Finite element solution of two-dimensional acoustic scattering problems using arbitrarily shaped convex artificial boundaries, J COMP ACOU, 8(1), 2000, pp. 81-99
For elongated scatterers such as submarines, we show that the generalizatio
n of the Bayliss-Turkel nonreflecting boundary conditions to arbitrarily sh
aped convex artificial boundaries improves significantly the computational
efficiency of finite element methods for the solution of acoustic scatterin
g problems.
