Abstract
This pilot study compared the psychological distress of 16 women with family histories of breast cancer (mother, sister, daughter, aunt) and 37 women with no such histories, all of whom were undergoing a regula r checkup in a breast health clinic in northern Israel. Analysis indic ated that women at high risk for breast cancer with a suspected syndro me experienced greater psychological distress than the women with no s uch histories.
