Abstract
A combination of polarization-mode dispersion (PMD) and polarization-depend ent losses in optical fiber may lead to anomalous pulse narrowing despite t he existence of finite differential group delay. It raises the issue for mo re complete assessments when studying the pulse propagation in single-mode fiber (SMF) in the presence of polarization-dependent loss.
