Abstract
A dipolar two-dimensional multifunctional (D-pi)(3)-A dye molecule, 2,4,6-t ris(4-octadecyloxystyryl)pyrylium tetrafluoroborate (OP3) was synthesized. The dye molecule was successfully transferred onto an ITO electrode or quar tz by LB techniques. The second-harmonic generation (SHG) and photoelectric conversion (PEC) properties of monolayers of this "umbrella-molecule" were studied under 10 mN m(-1) and 30 mN m(-1) surface pressure. The different tilt angles of the "umbrella-molecules" result in the difference in SHG and PEC properties. Both SHG and PEC properties of OP3 obtained under 30 mN m( -1) are better than those obtained under 10 mN m(-1).
