Non-iron metal finds and crucible fragments originating from an archaeologi
cal site of a Germanic village of 4(th) century AD at Dortmund-Oespel could
be characterised by spectrochemical analyses. Micro samples of more than 1
40 pieces of non-iron metals as well as of 4 certified reference materials
were analysed quantitatively by ICP-AES and FAAS. In-situ local analyses of
the crucible material were performed with the aid of a laboratory X-ray mi
croprobe. This microprobe is described in details and results of metal anal
yses are discussed on the historical background.
