Recent years have shown an enormous growth in cognitive science using funct
ional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). By means of rapid sequential imagi
ng and despite fast presentation of stimuli, it is now possible to reconstr
uct the haemodynamic response related to a single stimulus (event-related f
MRI). This brief report reviews the development and applications in the sph
ere of memory research with studies done in our group. A concise overview o
f current models of memory systems is followed by comparison of methods use
d in the past decade and current approaches.
