Eating disorders, obesity and mental health

In subgroups of patients with obesity on increased risk for depressive diso rders has been identified. The risk is particularly high in obese patients who also suffer from binge-eating disorder, metabolic syndrome or diabetes mellitus. Experimental and clinical studies support the hypothesis of a neu robiological interaction between body compositions, central control of eati ng behavior and metabolism and systems involved in the regulation of mood.
