The measurement of CP asymmetries in charged B meson decays might provide t
he first demonstration of CP violation outside the K system. Among the usua
l three CP-odd phases alpha, beta and gamma, the phase gamma seems to be th
e most difficult to explore experimentally. In this talk I would like to re
port on a recent analysis of the CP asymmetry in the partial widths for the
non-leptonic decays Bi+/- --> (M) over bar pi(+/-) (M = pi(+), K+, pi(0),
eta), which results from the interference of the non-resonant decay amplitu
de with the resonant amplitude for B+/- --> X-e0 pi(+/-) followed by the de
cay chi(c0) --> M (M) over bar. The CP violating phase gamma can be extract
ed from the measured asymmetry. We find that the partial width asymmetry fo
r B+/- --> pi(+)pi(-)pi(+/-) is about 0.33 sin gamma, and about 0.45 sin ga
mma for B+/- --> K(+)K(-)pi(+/-), while it is somewhat smaller for B+/- -->
pi(0)pi(0)pi(+/-) and B+/- --> eta eta pi(+/-).
