The results of calculations for the field profiles, and for local and globa
l magnetisation, in BSCCO-2212 single crystal specimens in the regime of th
e solid/liquid intermediate state are presented and compared with experimen
tal data. The calculations are based on an assumption of a first-order tran
sition between explicit equilibrium constitutive B-rev(H) relations for the
solid and liquid vortex matter states at a characteristic hysteretic inter
nal field H-m. The procedures for the accurate determination of the entropy
of melting from global and local magnetisation data in the intermediate st
