Abstract
The different effective masses of the electrons in the metals forming a point contact (PC) could result in an asymmetry in the PC resistance with respect to the applied voltage because of an EMF associated with the current flow through a metallic constriction. The qualitative and quantitative comparison with the experimental data for heterocontacts based on single crystals of PrNi5 or CeNi5 supports the proposed mode l.
