A review of literature detailing formal mentoring programs as part of physi
cal education teachers' induction reveals very Little. Disciplines within t
he realm of physical education in higher education would benefit from furth
er discourse on the topic of mentoring, with the ultimate goal being greate
r implementation of formal mentoring of varying types throughout kinesiolog
y and physical education programs. We share a practical application of ment
oring that exists for their students in the field of sport psychology and p
rovide examples of current mentoring dyads within kinesiology and physical
education in higher education. This article is an attempt to generate and p
romote further discussions on this important topic.
