Ts. Kurtikyan et al., Spectroscopic study of the interaction of nitrogen dioxide with sublimed layers of manganese(II) mesotetraphenylporphyrins, RUSS J C CH, 26(5), 2000, pp. 345-348
The methods of (NO2)-N-15-isotope-substituted IR and electronic absorption
spectroscopy were used to show that the interaction of nitrogen dioxide wit
h sublimed layers of manganese(II) meso-tetraphenylporphyrin ((MnTPP) has a
complicated character and results in the (MnTPP)-T-III . NO3- nitrate comp
lex. The coordination of an additional axial ligand brings about noticeable
shifts of several bands corresponding to the vibrations of porphyrin macro
cycle. It is shown that the literature IR spectra of (MnTPP)-T-III . NO3- r
ecorded in KBr pellets are distorted because of the anion exchange by the s
olid-phase reaction (MnTPP)-T-III NO3- + KBr = (MnTPP)-T-III . Br- + KNO3.
