The heteroligand Eu(III) and Tb(III) complexes with acetylacetone (HAcac) a
nd unsaturated acids, Ln(Acac)(2)Q . H2O, where Q is acrylic (HAcr) or meth
acrylic acid, were synthesized. Radical copolymerization was carried out fo
r the heteroligand Eu(Acac)(2)Acr . H2O complex and acrylic acid or methyl
methacrylate and for the Tb(Acr)(3). 3H(2)O complex and acrylic acid. The c
ompounds are characterized by elemental analysis, luminescence, and IR spec
troscopy. The luminescence intensities of the macromolecular Eu(III) comple
xes containing acetylacetonate ion are comparable with those of the monomer
ic complex.
