A method was proposed for preparing stable (for more than 3 years) colloids
of metallic copper, silver, and gold in the form of bulk dispersions, base
d on photochemical reduction of the complexes [Cuen(2)]. (BPh4)(2), [Ag(NH3
)(2)]BF4, and HAuCl4 in polymeric organic (polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene
glycol, gelatin, MF-4SK fluorinated hydrocarbon membranes) and inorganic (p
orous quartz glasses) matrices. The colloids are characterized by specific
plasmon absorption bands in the electronic spectra. The analysis of these b
ands allows determination of the structure and properties of colloids.
