The structure-related components of the hydration entropies at 283-323 K fo
r important components of air (He, Ar, Kr, H-2, N-2, and O-2) were calculat
ed from the partial molar volumes of these gases in aqueous solutions using
a method proposed for estimating the entropies of dissolved species. It wa
s shown that dissolved gases stabilize the local structure of liquid water.
In this case, Ar, Kr, N-2, and O-2 not only stabilize the structure, but a
lso contribute to an additional development of ordered-structure zones, whi
ch explains the fact that the solubility increases by jump when passing fro
m "light" gases to "heavier" gases.
