Abstract
We have tested a novel method of rapid bead-on-surface detection using a ma gnetic force microscope (MFM) with a ferromagnetic tip. This technique's re liance on mechanical sensors should allow for high speed, throughput and se nsitivity. In this report, we demonstrate that the fundamental physics allo ws for the rapid detection of a single bead bound to a surface by magnetic force sensing. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A.
