The clinical picture of the "cyclical vomiting syndrome", is discussed in t
he case of a 51/2-year-old child. The core symptom of this recurrent disord
er is vomiting that occurs in regular cycles and while the patient is in a
state of complete well-being, and which is hard to influence, The symptoms,
the differential diagnosis, and the therapy of this disorder, which occurs
primarily in childhood, are discussed along with the close etiological rel
ationship to infantile migraine. The diagnosis of "psychogenic vomiting" is
addressed critically, since it is entry applied in Germany to disorder pic
tures that are similar to cyclical vomiting.
