Abstract
Diamond polycrystalline films have been synthesised using the chemical vapo ur deposition technique in order to fabricate new types of photodetectors f or the characterisation of X-ray light sources as encountered in synchrotro n experiments. We present here new diamond-based devices for three differen t applications. including (i) semitransparent beam position monitors with h igh position resolution (< 2 mu m), (ii) beam profile monitors with 20 mu p itch resolution, and (iii) ultrafast diamond detectors for the 100 ps range that enable the intensity and temporal monitoring of fast X-ray pulses. Th ese devices can be used for in-line characterisation of synchrotron beam li ne experiments as well as for synchrotron machine diagnostics. (C) 2000 Els evier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
