Modeling of secondary lithium batteries is reviewed in this paper. The mode
ls available to simulate the electrochemical and thermal behavior of second
ary lithium batteries are discussed considering not only their electrochemi
cal representation (transport phenomena and thermodynamics of the system),
but also the mathematical techniques that have been used for solving the eq
uations. A brief review of the governing equations for porous electrodes, a
