Abstract
A long cavity Fabry-Perot laser has been forced into pulsed operation with a repetition rate equal to its cavity resonant frequency (32.8GHz), by inje cting short optical pulses at the fourth subharmonic (8.2GHz). Pulse trains generated using this technique exhibit a high subharmonic suppression rati o (> 17dB), wide locking range (> 500MHz) and low levels of jitter (< 0.4ps ).
