Abstract
This article examines the role the intelligent network (IN) can play as car riers move to next-generation networks. It discusses possible transition sc enarios and examines how IN could interwork with the Internet and packet-ba sed networks to produce new hybrid services. The article presents a view of a fully converged network, and concludes that IN will continue have a vita l role in voice and data services.
