Abstract
We present here a study on the propagation characteristics of two-dimension al periodic structures. The method of mode matching is employ cd to formula te the boundary-value problem in an exact fashion, and a perturbation analy sis is carried out to explain the wave phonomena associated with photonic b and gap structures. The dispersion curves of 2D periodic medium and 2D peri odic impedance surface are investigated in detail.
