The adhesion of linoleic acid heated at different temperatures ranging from
220 to 280 degrees C on three different substrates has been investigated.
During heating, several chemical modifications of linoleic acid occur and s
trong adhesion to the substrate develops. In order to obtain quantitative d
ata, a specific adhesion test has been developed. The adhesion of linoleic
acid at high temperature can be strongly reduced by using fluoroalkylsilane
-treated plates. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
