Abstract
The crystals of the title compound are composed of a polymeric network comp osed of europium(II) cations, hydrogen sulfosalicylate (2-hydroxy-5-sulfona tobenzoate) anions and coordinated water molecules. The first coordination sphere of the metal cation is composed of two carboxylic oxygen atoms, two sulfonate ones and five water molecules. The simultaneous coordination of s ulfosalicylate moiety through carboxylate and sulfonate groups results in a very long b axis. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
