Abstract
We have calculated the energy levels of a hydrogen atom confined off-centre in an impenetrable spherical box using a linear variational method. Both t he radial and angular wavefunctions are expanded in terms of B-splines. The validity of the approach has been examined for various off-centre distance s. Comparison with other results given in the literature is made and consis tent agreement is achieved. The change of the features of the energy levels in accord with the off-centre distance is revealed.
