Abstract
Prognosis for horses with pythiosis with osseous involvement of duration > 4 weeks is guarded because of poor response to treatment. Radical surgical debridement combined with aggressive medical treatment, su ch as antifungal perfusion and local cryotherapy of the distal aspect of a limb, is essential for successful treatment of chronic pythiosis or pythios is with osseous involvement.
