Abstract
Multiple-cause-coded mortality rates for thromboembolism in the Oxford regi on of the UK showed a steady decline from 1975 to 1998. The trend for admis sion rates was less clearcut, but recent changes were not specific to women of ages associated with use of oral contraceptives or hormone-replacement therapy.
