Abstract
The incidence of incisional hernias after laparoscopic surgery is evaluated by analysing our own cases and reviewing the literature. Summarised data s how the incidence is 1 in 550 cases. The most frequent complication is inte stinal incarceration, with a high proportion of Richter's hernias. To avoid post-laparoscopic hernias, it is important to suture the fascia when the t rocar diameter exceeds 5 mm. When external suturing of the fascia is imposs ible, a laparoscopic technique, using the Reverdin needle, is suitable for fascial closure after minimally invasive surgery.
