K. Das et B. Guha, INTERCROPPING OF RAPESEED (BRASSICA-CAMPESTRIS SUBSP OLEIFERA VAR TORIA) WITH NIGER (GUIZOTIA-ABYSSINICA) UNDER RAIN-FED CONDITION, Indian Journal of Agronomy, 41(4), 1996, pp. 542-545
An experiment was conducted during the winter (rabi) season of 1991-92
and 1992-93 at Shillongani, to find out the suitable combination of r
apeseed [Brassica campestris L. spp oleifera (Metzer) Sinsk. var. tori
a] and niger (Guizotia abyssinica Cass.) intercropping system. The yie
ld-attributing characters of all intercropping combinations and pure c
rops were not significant. Yield of both the crops gradually increased
with an increase in row proportion and decreased with decrease in pro
portions. However, the highest values of rapeseed-equivalent yield (9.
25 q/ha), land-equivalent ratio (1.30), monetary advantage (Rs 1,707.8
1), net return (Rs 4,025.50/ha) and net return per rupee invested (Rs
1.19) were recorded in 2 rapeseed : 2 niger combination in comparison
to the pure crops and other combinations.
