Science and technology can be used and developed to support nonviolent struggle as well as military struggle. By examining what science and technology is likely to be useful for nonviolent action, a set oil pri orities for disciplinary fields, research projects and methods of rese arch is obtained that is quite different from those associated with mi litary priorities. This case study illustrates the value of studying n ot just the science and technology that exists but also the science an d technology that might exist in different social structures.
