This paper is devoted to thr identification of the mapping between the
CD actuators and the scanned profiles of the paper properties taking
into account effect of paper shrinkage and misalignment. We describe n
ew automated tools and methods for identification of alignment and shr
inkage using advanced optimization technology. The approach allows us
to achieve reliable identification of alignment and shrinkage despite
the process noise. The developed automated tools perform excitation of
the paper machine actuators collection and processing of the data. Th
e tools hale been successfully used to improve CD control mapping for
paper machines with various types of CD actuators.
