The heat capacity of He-3 adsorbed on one-dimensional pores, 18 Angstrom in
diameter and sub-micrometer in length, was measured down to 10 mK as a fun
ction of coverage. The heat capacity isotherm of He-3 shows a kink at a cov
erage of n(0) which is equal to the inert layer coverage, at which onset of
superfluidity occurs in He-4. To examine the state of He-3 above n(0) we p
recoated He-4 on the 18 Angstrom pores. The heat capacity of He-3 on the pr
ecoated pores is proportional to temperature. The result shows that He-3 be
comes a degenerate Fermi liquid or a Luttinger liquid. (C) 2000 Elsevier Sc
