Mixed state of itinerant and localized charges in layered cuprates

Under the translation invariance of a ground state in a 2D electron-hole sy stem, the mixed state of itinerant and localized charges can be realized if the number of the localized electrons is equal to that of the localized ho les. If the chemical potential of the localized charge is around or less th an 1 eV, the localized charges are aligned in one direction to form the cha rge distribution of a stripe configuration, which is observed on CuO2 plane s in many layered cuprates.
