Muon spill relaxation (mu SR) measurements were applied to Bi2Sr2Ca1-xYx(Cu
1-yZny)(2)O8+delta down to 26 mK to examine the existence of the "1/8 effec
t". Enhancement of the muon spin depolarization was observed around a hole
concentration of 1/8 per Cu in the Zn-substituted samples in which the high
-T-c, superconductivity was anomalously suppressed. Our mu SR study reveale
d that the "1/8 effect" was likely to exist in the Bi-2212 system also. (C)
